Pickleball Courts Update

Hi Gang,

Well, there has been a change of plans regarding our request for holes being drilled on the basketball court. It appears that the neighbors adjoining the park are in an uproar with the prospect of having permanent pickleball courts installed at the park. They have since been assured that these are not intended to be our permanent courts. However, their complaints have caused the Shea board to back-off from drilling holes for the standards, but will continue with the process of resurfacing and painting of lines. The resurfacing is scheduled to being this Friday and we should be good to play on the courts for our Thursday ladder (8/19.) The surface will be a beige color with black line for basketball and white lines for pickleball. This is what they call an Omni-court configuration. Both basketball hoops will remain in place.

On another note, as a result of our request for a written agreement from Shea for the set-aside of space for our new facility, Shea would like a formal proposal and cost estimate for the work on the new pickleball facility to be presented to them. This will include the base structure, lines, nets, poles, fencing, lighting, shelter, etc. At that point I believe we can get down to the details of the Agreement. I plan to have this put together for them by the end of the month.

I?ll keep you informed of our progress.

Regards,
Mike
