Pickleball Club Membership Renewal & Update

Nov 7, 2010

Hello Gang,

Well, a year has passed since we established our Trilogy Pickleball Club. It’s been a fun year and we have seen our membership grow to 103. I realize that not all of you are as active as others, however your support of the club and our concept of bringing pickleball to Trilogy is very much appreciated.

With this said, it is time to solicit your membership for 2011. I have tried to make renewal a little more convenient by giving you the option to pay your 2011 dues via PayPal. You can use your PayPal account or a credit card through the link below. Simply click the link which will take you to PayPal. There is a $1 fee that is required to use PayPal. Again, even if you are not an active member, your financial support is very much appreciated.  Renew your membership now at: http://www.trilogypickleball.com/membership-application--name-badge-payment.html. You can make any changes to your email, phone or address at the site as well.

To bring you up to date on our progress regarding our permanent pickleball courts, I am waiting on a final drawing to come back to me which will represent the layout of the pickleball courts relative to the tennis court complex. Once I have this, I will be sending our complete presentation over to Shea for their review and requesting we meet to discuss our agreement regarding the set-aside of the space. Once this is in place we will hold a general membership meeting to develop our approach to raising the funds needed to construct the courts. To those of you who have been so kind  as to have already made a financial pledge, I will be contacting you individually.

Our bylaws state that board of directors elections will be held each year. However, as we are entering into only our second year of existence and our initiative is still in its early stages, I would like to ask that the board of directors remain in place for one more year. If you have objections to this request, we will hold elections at the general membership meeting which will be held no later than December. We do have two seats that need to be filled: Secretary and one Member At Large. If you would like to get more involved and volunteer for one of these positions, please let me know. Further, if you have objections to this proposal, let me know as well.

As you may know, the USAPA National Tournament was held at Festival this past week. We had participants in several categories and although we didn’t come away with any medals, we had a great time and learned some lessons as well. Thanks to all participants and those who came out to support our teams. More tournaments are on the agenda. If you would like to participate, visit the USAPA.org website for a complete schedule and tournament applications.

The weather is just perfect, so come out and join the fun. Here’s our Fall/Winter Schedule:

Pickleball Fall/Winter Play Schedules Posted

Hi Gang,

Well, the weather has turned and some of our snowbirds have already returned. With that, it’s time to let everyone know of our fall/winter play schedule. Here it is below and it can be found on our website’s front page at any time: www.TrilogyPickleball.com

Fall / Winter 2010 Schedule  Monday Afternoon:              3:00 PM - 6:00 PM -   Beginners and All Levels - Open Play
Tuesday Afternoon:             3:00 PM - 6:00 PM -   All Levels - Open Play

  Wednesday Afternoon:       3:00 PM - 4:30 PM  -  Ladder - C Level
Wednesday Afternoon:       4:00 PM - 6:00 PM  -  All Levels - Open Play

Thursday Afternoon:           4:00 PM - 6:00 PM  -  All Levels - Open Play
  Friday Mornings:                  8:00 AM - 11:00 AM - Advanced Play  Saturday Mornings:             8:00 AM -  9:30 AM  - Ladder - All Levels
Saturday Mornings:             9:00 AM -  11:00 AM - All Levels - Open Play

Ladder Play Schedule: (See: All About Ladders)
        Ladder A - Advanced Level:          Thursday at 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
        Ladder C - Intermediate Level        Wednesday at 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Saturday - All Levels                         Saturday at 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM

You’ll notice there is now an additional Open Play time on Tuesday afternoon, as I have had some requests to do so. I would also like to get Wednesday afternoon’s C Level Ladder up and running once again. Please let me know if you would like to join this ladder. If we get 8 to 10 people interested, I can have it up and running in a week. This is a basic/intermediate ladder, so if you have some playing experience, I encourage you get involved. Its’ a lot of fun.

On another subject:
I’m in the process of creating drawings of our new pickleball court facility to be built up by the tennis courts and Trilogy Blvd. This will be sent to Shea with as much detail as I can provide regarding the construction of the courts. It will include the four court dimensions, fencing, lighting, a covered seating area and a storage area. Once this is presented, our expectation is to receive a firm commitment from Shea that we will be able to construct the courts on this site, once the funds have been raised. At that point we will begin our fundraising efforts in earnest. If things progress according to plan, we will hold a general membership in the November/December timeframe to discuss our approach to fundraising. I’ll keep you informed

See you on the courts.
